In order to promote the development of China's mobile communication industry and scientific and technological innovation and promote the research and development of the sixth generation mobile communication (6g) technology, the launch meeting of 6G technology research and development was held in Beijing on November 3. Vice Minister Wang Xi of the Ministry of science and technology attended the meeting and made a speech.
The meeting announced the establishment of the national 6G technology research and development promotion working group and the overall expert group. The promotion working group is composed of relevant government departments, whose responsibilities are to promote the implementation of 6G technology research and development. The overall expert group is composed of 37 experts from universities, scientific research institutes and enterprises, who are mainly responsible for proposing 6G technology research layout suggestions and technical demonstration, providing consultation and suggestions for major decisions 。 At the meeting, the representatives of the general expert group introduced the 6G technology research and development trend and future development ideas and suggestions; the representatives of TD industry alliance and future mobile communication forum respectively introduced the preliminary work, future 6G imagination and suggestions for the next work plan. The establishment of 6G technology R & D promotion working group and overall expert group marks the official start of 6G technology R & D in China.
In his summary speech, Vice Minister Wang Xi pointed out that at present, the global 6G technology research is still in the initial stage of exploration, the technical route is not clear, and the key indicators and application scenarios have not yet been defined in a unified way. In the critical period of national development, we should attach great importance to the overall layout, promote efficiently and open innovation. Next, the Ministry of science and technology, together with relevant departments, will organize the overall expert group system to develop 6G technology R & D plan, carry out 6G technology pre research, and explore possible technical directions.
