If you take a plane, you can go to Taiyuan or Datong first. Because trains and planes can't reach Wutai Mountain directly, highway passenger transportation is particularly important. Taiyuan, Datong and Xinzhou have buses leading to Taihuai town. Every 30 minutes, there is a bus from Taiyuan long distance bus terminal and Taiyuan East passenger station to Wutai Mountain. The bus model is Iveco or bus. The whole journey is about 200 kilometers, and the driving time is about 4 hours. The ticket price is 43 yuan.
If you take the train, you can get off at Shahe, Xinzhou or Taiyuan on the Jingyuan line, and then transfer to a bus. 48 kilometers from Shahe railway station to Taihuai Town, the fare is 15 yuan. The advantage is that the train from Beijing will arrive at more than 3 a.m., so you can start the whole day's journey in advance, such as catching up with the sunrise in Dongtai.
There are long-distance bus stations in Taihuai Town, which are sent to Taiyuan, Xinzhou, Datong, Yangquan, Shuozhou, Dingxiang, Fanshi, Shijiazhuang and Beijing.
