Yuelu Academy is located at the foot of Yuelu Mountain in Changsha, Hunan Province. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides and Xiangjiang River in front of it. It is a good place for scholars to retreat from the world. Since ancient times, Yuelu Academy has been the educational and academic center in the south of the Yangtze River. As early as in the Five Dynasties, there were monks running schools here. In the Northern Song Dynasty, Yuelu Academy was officially established. After that, it was continuously expanded, and the scale of the Academy became increasingly prosperous. After the song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was changed into a higher school in the 29th year of Guangxu.

In 1918, Hunan higher industrial school moved to Yuelu Academy. In 1926, the Polytechnic, commercial and political law schools were merged and changed into Hunan University. Most of the buildings we see now were renovated in the 1980s on the basis of the buildings of the Qing Dynasty.

There are also a large number of Steles and plaques in the Academy, such as' Lushan Temple stele 'carved in the Tang Dynasty, huangxianhele stone carving and seal characters carved in the summer of the Yangtze River; songzhenzong calligraphy' Yuelu Academy 'stele shop' and 'chengzisi Zhen stele' carved in the Ming Dynasty; Kangxi and Qianlong Royal plaques' learning to reach nature 'and' Daonan Zhengmai '(the Royal plaques hang in the hall of the lecture hall), etc.

In China, there are four major Academies: Yuelu Academy, Songyang academy, Yingtian academy and Bailudong Academy. Among these four academies, the "Songyang academy" which was named after Yuelu Academy has just been restored recently; Yingtian Academy was submerged in the Yellow River in the middle and late Ming Dynasty, the city site moved to the north, and the original site of the academy has no existence; and the school of "Bailudong academy" has long been terminated. Only Yuelu Academy has been running for thousands of years.

Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission issued a notice on reducing the ticket price of Yuelu Academy on April 8. From April 15 this year, the government guided ticket price of Hunan Yuelu Academy (including the exhibition hall of China Academy Museum) has been reduced from 50 yuan / person time to 40 yuan / person time, with a validity period of 5 years.

According to the notice, the scenic spot will offer preferential prices to specific groups: children under the age of 14 (excluding), elderly people over 65 (including), disabled people, active servicemen and retired military cadres will enjoy free tickets; students under the age of 14 (including) to 18 (excluding) and full-time undergraduate and below will enjoy half tickets.

The notice also stipulates that scenic spots shall not collect insurance fees while selling tickets, and separate charging windows shall be set up for tourists who voluntarily purchase insurance.

In December 2018, Ni Hongtao, a professor of Law School of Hunan Normal University, issued a real name paper questioning the admission fees collected by Yuelu Academy, which aroused widespread concern of the society. Yuelu Academy of Hunan University responded that the basis for admission was the official reply of Hunan development and Reform Commission at the end of 2015. On January 30 this year, the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission organized a hearing on adjusting the ticket price of Yuelu Academy (including the exhibition hall of China Academy Museum), which held a hearing on "the price of ordinary tickets reduced from 50 yuan / person time to 40 yuan / person time".
