On December 20, 1999, on the first day of Macao's return to the motherland, a large-scale sculpture with copper and gold stickers presented by the State Council of China was unveiled at the Golden Lotus Square in front of the variety hall. The main part of the heyday lotus consists of flower stems, petals and pistils, 16 shapes in total, which are made of bronze and covered with gold, weighing 6.5 tons. The base part is composed of 23 pieces of red granite. The total height of the sculpture is 6 meters, and the maximum diameter of the flower part is 3.6 meters.
