This ancient village is maopu ancient village located in the north of Zhouhe Township, Xinxian County, Xinyang City.
Maopu ancient village is about 26 kilometers away from Xinxian county. It was founded in the reign of Emperor Qianlong and has a history of more than 300 years. It has been successively by Chinese landscape villages, Chinese traditional villages, provincial cultural relics protection units and rural tourism characteristic villages in Henan Province.
At present, maopu ancient village is bounded by the Diaolou in the village, which is divided into two groups of villagers upstairs and downstairs, but it is still collectively referred to as maopu ancient village. There are more than 300 ancient dwellings of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in the village, which is the largest and well preserved ancient dwellings of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in southern Henan.
These ancient dwellings are lined up from south to north. The overall structure is mostly brick and wood structure, stone strip base, bluestone paving, and exquisite brick and wood carvings can be seen everywhere. Today, there are still 329 villagers from 76 households in maopu ancient village, basically surnamed Peng.
According to Peng's genealogy and other documents, in the middle and late Ming Dynasty, the Peng family moved from Jiangxi to build a village here, and gradually formed a village after the reproduction of several generations of Peng's ancestors.
Today, the remaining ancient houses were built during the reign of Emperor Qianlong and expanded in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. In addition to the houses, they are also equipped with protective gatehouses, lookouts, channels to avoid bandits, daily necessities processing areas, sacrificial areas and so on.
In addition to these ancient buildings themselves, maopu ancient village is also surrounded by beautiful scenery.
Baiyun Mountain, located in the east of the ancient village, is one of the highest mountains in Dabie Mountain, with an altitude of 902.6 meters. It is named because the mountain is surrounded by clouds all year round. The Bailu River in front of the village originates here.
There are temples built in the Tang Dynasty on the mountain, which used to be a place of pilgrimage for the surrounding people. However, due to the change of dynasties, the temple was eroded by the war, destroyed several times and repaired several times. Now the incense is far from prosperous.
