How to place Thangka? What do you say about Thangka

Speaking of Thangka, people who like to treasure Thangka must know something about it. Thangka is a unique painting art form in Tibetan culture. Its subject matter covers Tibetan history, politics, culture, social life and many other fields. Most handed down Thangka are works of Tibetan Buddhism and religion. However, Thangka Tang can not be placed in any way, so how to place Thangka better? What do you say about Thangka?

About the placement of Thangka. All kinds of Thangka are not suitable to be placed in the bedroom, kitchen and toilet under the condition of light. Because Kaiguang is to be blessed, that is to say, thangka is equal to Buddha and Bodhisattva. Out of respect, it is not suitable to put it in the above places. The Tangka of Mandala type is suitable to be placed in the entrance, which can better play the role of guarding against evil and praying for blessings. Thangkas like Buddha statues are more suitable to be placed in the living room, study and other places. It is easy to use to observe and worship.

About the mounting of Thangka. There are two kinds of Thangka mounting, one is Tibetan mounting, the other is Chinese mounting (framing). Tibetan mounting is similar to scroll mounting in traditional Chinese painting, in which Thangka and cloth are sewn together and wooden strips are used as two axes. If you choose this method, it is recommended that you do not remove the Thangka for mounting in other styles in the future. Because if it is removed, pinholes will be left around Thangka. Chinese style mounting is the same as decorative painting. It uses cardboard (usually more than two layers) to separate the gap between Thangka and glass, and is installed in a wooden frame. It should be noted that when you choose the wooden frame, it is recommended that you choose the material with better quality to avoid the influence of the variant of the wooden frame on Thangka. As far as I know, there is no Tibetan mounting in the mainland. It needs to be mounted in Tibetan areas. Generally speaking, Tibetan mounting is suitable for the north, because the weather in the north is dry, while the humidity in the air in the south is relatively high, which is not conducive to the long-term preservation of Thangka. So please Thangka friends in the north can choose the mounting method according to personal preferences, and please Thangka friends in the south, it is recommended that you choose Chinese mounting.

About the cleaning of Thangka. Because thangka is made of mineral powder and glue, thangka is afraid of water. When cleaning Thangka, it is recommended that you use a soft dry towel and wipe Thangka gently. Tibetan mount Thangka once a month, Chinese mount Thangka once a year, do not have to clean every day.
