Japan raises employment age to 70

In response to the increasingly serious aging problem, the Japanese government plans to tap the 'work potential' of the elderly population to make up for the labor shortage. And Japan should raise the employment age from 65 to 70 to solve the aging problem.

According to reports, Japan's current law stipulates that enterprises have the obligation to employ willing employees until the age of 65 by abolishing the retirement system, delaying the retirement age or introducing the continuous employment system. The Japanese government intends to raise the upper age limit to 70 on the basis of maintaining this content.

After the amendment of the law, we will pay attention to the implementation of the enterprise's measures, stipulate any one of the seven projects as an obligation, and discuss the issue of publishing the name of the enterprise in case of violation. In principle, the public pension age of 65 will not be increased.

Japan's response to the aging population through the amendment of the entry and control law

In addition to increasing the number of years, Japan has adopted an amendment to the entry control law to deal with the aging population.

The amendment to Japan's entry and exit administration and refugee identification law (hereinafter referred to as the entry and exit administration law) with the main content of expanding the introduction of foreign workers was passed in the plenary session of the Senate on the 8th.

However, the bill does not specify the details of the new system. At present, only 14 types of work in nursing industry and construction industry are discussed. The Japanese government said it would summarize the areas it could actually receive and the number of people it would receive within this month. In addition, the comprehensive measures for these foreign workers, such as workplace, life help and Japanese teaching, will be summarized within this month.

The bill aims to expand the introduction of foreign workers and solve the shortage of manpower caused by the increasing number of children and aging. But since the bill was put forward, there have been many queries. The political parties in Japan have launched fierce debates.

The Japanese government said the new system will come into effect in April next year and will bring in about 345000 foreign workers in the next five years.
