Can't super fungi be cured? How to prevent and treat super fungus infection

We should also have noticed the news of the outbreak of superfungi in the United States. After investigation, several cases of infection were found in China. Because the super fungus infection is very fast, the lethality is very strong, there is no way to control, once caused a panic. So can't super fungi be cured? How to treat and prevent super fungi?

Super fungus infection

First of all, the ecological source of the super fungus is not clear, and it has not been isolated from the natural environment at present. International colleagues speculate that the super fungus is a new species evolved in recent years, which can quickly adapt to and colonize the human body.

Secondly, most of the strains are resistant to the three commonly used antifungal drugs (including azoles, polyenes and echinocandins), resulting in treatment failure and more than 60% mortality.

Moreover, the diagnosis and identification are difficult. Traditional morphological and biochemical diagnostic methods in clinical laboratory often mistakenly identify other Candida species.

Finally, it can survive on the skin of patients and medical staff and the surface of hospital facilities for a long time, resulting in explosive nosocomial infection.

It is reported that Candida infection is the most lethal for people with impaired immune system. The initial symptoms are fever, pain and fatigue. If fungi spread to the blood, brain or heart, they may even kill people.

Experts said that there are some difficulties in the identification of Candida auratus. Traditional biochemical identification methods are difficult to identify superfungi. At present, mass spectrometry and molecular biology methods are mainly used. According to Huang Guanghua, the main reason for the delay in the reporting of clinical cases of superfungi infection in China may be technical problems. "Mass spectrometers are not very common outside the top three hospitals in China, and the possibility of missing detection cannot be ruled out. '

At present, a number of academician workstations in our country are doing relevant monitoring, in order to prevent missing detection leading to the outbreak of Candida auralis in China. "We need to be alert to the potential threat of superfungi, early detection, early isolation and early treatment," he said

Fungal prevention

In addition to tinea capitis and onychomycosis, most fungal infection symptoms are mild, commonly used antifungal cream treatment. Many effective antifungal creams can be purchased in pharmacies without prescription. Generally, antifungal powder is not used. The active components of antifungal drugs are miconazole, clotrimazole, Econazole and ketoconazole.

The general cream was applied twice a day, and the treatment lasted for 7-10 days after the skin lesions subsided. If the cream is stopped too soon, the infection is not eliminated, and the rash will recur.

Antifungal cream is effective only after a few days of use, during which corticosteroid cream can be used to relieve itching and pain. Low dose of hydrocortisone cream can be used in the market, and higher concentration of hydrocortisone needs a doctor's prescription.

Severe or refractory infections can be treated with griseofulvin for several months, sometimes with antifungal cream. Oral administration of griseofulvin is very effective, but can cause side effects such as headache, gastrointestinal dysfunction, photosensitivity, edema and leukopenia. Infection may recur after discontinuation of griseofulvin. Skin fungal infection can also be treated with ketoconazole. Like griseofulvin, oral ketoconazole has serious side effects, including liver damage.

Keeping the infected area clean and dry helps to inhibit fungal reproduction and promote skin healing. The infected area should be washed with soap and water frequently, and then sprinkled with talcum powder after drying. Avoid powder containing corn flour because it promotes fungal growth.

If fungal infection has exudate, it may be complicated by bacterial infection. It needs to be treated with antibiotics. Apply antibiotic cream or oral antibiotics. Diluted aluminum acetate solution or Whitefield ointment can also be used to dry the infiltrated skin.
