In fact, the word "super moon" is a new word, which has been put forward for only a few decades, experts from Zijinshan observatory said. It refers to the phenomenon that the moon is near the perigee when the full moon occurs.
According to reports, due to the non-standard elliptical orbit of the moon around the earth, the average distance between the earth and the moon is about 384 thousand km, the perigee distance is less than 360 thousand km, and the apogee distance is more than 400 thousand km. Therefore, the full moon at the perigee appears to be about 14% larger and about 30% brighter than the full moon at the apogee. As a result, the perigee full moon is also known as the 'super moon'.
According to experts, "super moon" is not mysterious. It will appear several times a year.
In 2019, when three 'super moons' occur, the moon is very close to perigee. Among them, on January 21, the full moon occurs at 13:16, China time, and the distance between the earth and the moon is about 357300 km; on February 19, the full moon occurs at 23:54, and the distance between the earth and the moon is about 356900 km; on March 21, the full moon occurs at 9:43, and the distance between the earth and the moon is about 360700 km.
Among them, tomorrow, January 21, when the "super moon" occurs, there is an annual astronomical drama "super total eclipse" on the other side of the earth. Unfortunately, China happens to be in the daytime, and the public is out of luck with this astronomical spectacle.
