The 7-year-old child was stuck in the throat when eating fish. His mother asked him to drink vinegar and a large mouthful of rice dumpling. The adults thought that the child's fish bone was a small thing, so they didn't care, which eventually led to the child's accidental death. So what should children do if they are stuck eating fish? Is there any good first aid method?

Why is the fishbone stuck in the throat, and it is not recommended to swallow?

When eating fish, it is stuck by the fishbone. The initial position is generally shallow. The most common one is near the tonsil. It is easy to solve if it is treated or pinched in time. On the contrary, the use of swallowing and other soil methods will push the fish bone deeper and deeper into the mucous membrane. At the same time, it may push the fish bone into the throat and esophagus, making it more difficult to remove the fish bone. In addition, there are many large blood vessels around the throat and esophagus. After the fish bone stabs the blood vessels, it can cause massive bleeding, or it can puncture the mucous membrane to cause infection, suppuration, abscess, and finally lead to infection crisis.

What should a mother do in the face of a child's fishbone?

1) Observe the position of the fishbone

You can let children open their mouth, adults use flashlight to observe the position of the fish bone. If you open your mouth, you can see the fish bone. On the premise of fixing the child's mouth, adults can use chopsticks or tweezers to clamp it out. For the situation that the fishbone can't be seen, it's better for adults to take their children to the hospital and let the doctor handle it.

2) If the fish bone is small

If it is confirmed that the fishbone is small, the adult can put clean fingers or chopsticks into the mouth and press the root of the tongue to make the child nauseous and vomit. It is better to vomit a lot and spit out the food. The small fishbone will come out with the food.

3) If the fishbone is large

If you don't know the size of the fishbone, or you know that the fishbone is very big, adults must not let children swallow things, nor let children vomit blindly. You must go to the hospital in time and let the doctor handle it. Blind swallowing or vomiting may cause the fish bone to pierce the throat and esophagus of the child, causing greater damage!
