How to clean silk clothes? What should I do if silk turns yellow?

For many old people, they like silk clothes very much. They are comfortable to wear, but they are also very particular about cleaning. What should we do if silk clothes turn yellow? How can we clean silk clothes?

What to do when silk turns yellow:

White silk clothes are easy to turn yellow. You can use wax gourd slices to scrub on the stains (the juice of wax gourd can remove the yellow stains), and then rinse with water. If it is a large area of yellowing, you can put in a proper amount of fresh lemon juice, or you can wash away the yellow stains.

Dark silk dress restoration and coloring method: after washing, add a little salt in warm water, and then wash it again (cold water and salt are used to mix printed silk fabric), so as to maintain the brilliant luster of the fabric. Washing black silk clothes with discarded tea leaves can keep them black, bright and soft forever.

For clothing made of silk fabric, the effect of dust removal is much better than that of brush when it is patted with soft cloth.

Precautions for cleaning silk clothes:

(1) Don't soak in water for a long time. The protective layer of silk is composed of sericin, silk fibroin and minerals. Therefore, silk products should not be washed frequently. In particular, they should not be soaked in hot water and soapy water, and they should not be rubbed or twisted to avoid pilling and loss of luster.

(2) The silk is very afraid of heat, and the strength and tensile force of the silk will decrease obviously under high temperature. After washing, hang in a cool place to dry to avoid embrittlement.

(3) Alkali and strong acid have destructive effects on silk. Please use special washing products for washing. Do not use alkaline detergent, soap, washing powder or other detergents. Never use disinfectant. Strong acid is easy to dissolve under high temperature, but weak acid can play a protective role. For example, a little vinegar will make its color brighter when washing.

(4) Silk clothes should not be overlapped or folded to dry to avoid staining.

(5) silk products should not be perfumed with perfume, fresheners, deodorants and so on. Do not use camphor pills in storage, because this may cause a silk scarf to absorb some kind of smell or discoloration. Silk scarves should be hung in the closet with a hanger instead of metal ones to prevent rust and other pollution. They should also be kept away from direct sunlight.

(6) Because there is more chlorine in the tap water in summer, the tap water of the next day should be used for washing silk clothing.

(7) The silk clothes after perspiration should be washed immediately.

(8) Do not hang silk clothes on hard metal hooks to prevent silk surface damage.
