The world's most useless airport has been abandoned for five years at a cost of 300 million pounds

Four seas network: it's embarrassing to build a new airport that hasn't been used for five years. Recently, the most useless airport in the world has become the Internet red. This airport in the world's isolated island ushered in the first spring!

According to foreign media reports, Britain spent nearly 300 million pounds to build an airport on the South Atlantic island of St Helena five years ago. But when the airport was completed last year, it failed to be used because of the "unpredictable strong wind, which may cause rise and fall risks". It is also known as the "most useless airport in the world". Until recently, the airport finally ushered in the first commercial flight.

The flight ends hundreds of years of dependence on ships to connect the island with the outside world.

Saint Helena is a remote island with a population of only 4500, which is known as the "world's Island". But because Britain exiled Napoleon to the island in 1815, it still attracts many tourists every year.

The airport on the island was built on the edge of a cliff. The reason for the original construction was to develop tourism resources. However, due to the lack of pre construction evaluation, the wind caused by the terrain was not taken into account, resulting in the indefinite closure of the airport after completion, which was only used by small private aircraft.

Before that, the only way to get to St Helena was by water. The ship sailed for 5 days from Cape Town, South Africa. After the opening of the airport, there will be regular flights from Johannesburg, South Africa every week. The first flight carried 60 passengers several times before landing safely on the runway.
