under the careful and safe operation of the construction personnel, the old portrait after a year of wind and rain was slowly removed, and the latest portrait of Chairman Mao was hung on the Tian'anmen city. On September 28, tourists from all over the world will see a full and bright portrait of Chairman Mao on the Tiananmen Gate Tower.

At 23:00 on September 27, the replacement was officially launched. In this replacement, the construction personnel used two cranes and a truck. As in the previous replacement work, the construction personnel climbed onto the city building, first leaned down to the hanging place of Chairman Mao's portrait, slowly and gently removed the old portrait, and then lifted the portrait away from the hanging position with a crane until the old portrait was completely removed. The crane's boom is raised again, and it hooks firmly on the top of the new portrait parked on the truck, hangs the portrait, and approaches the center of the Tiananmen Gate Tower. Throughout the process, the portrait did not sway. Thirty minutes later, the newly painted portrait of Chairman Mao was hung in the center of the Tiananmen Gate Tower. The construction personnel also carefully wiped the bottom frame of the portrait with a towel. At 0:05 on September 28, the replacement was completed, and the whole process lasted for more than 1 hour.

Although it was 11 o'clock at night, there were still tourists in front of Tiananmen tower. They witnessed the change of the portrait. After the replacement of the portrait, we can't wait to hold up the camera, mobile phone and the new portrait for a group photo.

It is understood that on the eve of the National Day every year, the city building of Tian'anmen will replace the portrait of Chairman Mao with a new one, and the old one, which has been slightly faded by the wind and sun, will be removed. The painter will deal with the old portraits, carefully draw Chairman Mao's new portraits on the treated drawing board, and then replace the old portraits of the previous year on the eve of the next national day. It is understood that the portrait of Chairman Mao is 6 meters high and 4.6 meters wide, with a frame and a total weight of 1.5 tons. It is the largest hand-painted portrait of leaders in Asia.

Some people have asked Xing Qiucheng: why does chairman Mao of Tian'anmen want painters to paint every year with modern and developed technology?

Xing Qiucheng thought, 'I think this is not only our national image, but also our country's tradition from the founding of new China to now. This tradition is the unique experience, standard and process formed through the continuous efforts of many years, many people and many old artists. It is also a special painting skill that has been formed for a long time. Besides, painting and photos are not the same thing, and large-scale portraits are not the same thing as general oil paintings, because every painting of a large-scale leader image requires the painter to conduct more accurate and in-depth artistic performance according to the photos, and each large-scale leader image is a re creation of a large-scale oil painting portrait with strict requirements'.
