The United Nations predicts the global population. How many billion people are there

Sihaiwang: since the industrial revolution, the global population has been increasing. So what is the trend of global population development?

So far, the global population is between 7.5 billion and 7.6 billion. According to the data provided by the United Nations last year, the global population will reach 9.8 billion in 2050 and more than 11 billion in 2100!

The United Nations Department of economic and social affairs released a forecast on the 21st that the global population will increase from the current 7.6 billion to 9.8 billion by 2050 and reach 11.2 billion by 2100. By 2024, India will surpass China in population and become the world's largest population country. Japan will gradually decline from its current 11th place (127 million people) to 29th place with 85 million people in 2100.

The Department of economic and social affairs pointed out that the increase of concentrated population in extremely poor countries will be the subject of implementing the United Nations' sustainable development goals (sdgs) proposed to eradicate poverty and hunger.

According to the forecast, India's population will reach 1517 million by 2100, while China's population will reach 1.021 billion. Only these two countries account for 22.7% of the global population. Of the 10 most populous countries, five are from Africa.

From 2095 to 2100, the life expectancy of the global population is expected to rise from 71.9 years in 2015 to 82.6 years in 2020. The Japanese will rise from 84 to 93.9.

In both periods, the global average total fertility rate (the total number of children born to women) may fall from 2.47 to 1.97. In Japan, the number increased from 1.48 to 1.79.

The degree of aging will also continue to deepen, with the global population aged 60 or over doubling by 2050 and more than tripling by 2100.
