What's the smell of dry bird's nest

The processed dry bird's nest has a light taste of protein. The unprocessed petrels produced in a caring environment also have a strong taste of protein. The original bird's nest produced in poor environment has various peculiar smell.

After processing, the bird's nest will spray water on the way of transportation. When it gets to the destination for a long time, it will have a musty smell. At present, only Jingyan, which has been signed by China Quality Inspection Bureau and the Ministry of agriculture and agricultural foundation of Malaysia, is imported with original packaging according to legal procedures.

How to choose dry bird's nest

1, color

High quality bird's nest is ivory white or slightly yellow, glossy, and translucent when observed under light or after soaking in water. If the color of red swallow or yellow swallow changes after soaking for a period of time, it indicates that it is a fake bird's nest.

2, smell

High quality bird's nest has egg white smell or special fragrance. If it has fishy smell or greasy smell, it is fake bird's nest. If it smells pungent chemicals, it may be bleached bird's nest.

3. Humidity

Gently hold the bird's nest with your hand. If it feels soft and sticky, it means that the humidity is high and it is not suitable for purchase.

4, hair head

High quality bird's nest can grow 6-12 times larger on average after being immersed in water. If the hair is too big, it may not be a good bird's nest. For example, cave bird's nest, because of its high mineral content and toughness, will not expand a lot when immersed.

5, density

High quality bird's nest has fine and dense filaments, no gaps in appearance; less internal capsule filaments; a small amount of fine hairs in the calyx.

6, elasticity

Tear a small piece of bird's nest and soak it in water until it's soft, then take the silk strip and pull it. If it's broken, it's fake; or if it's kneaded with fingers and turned into paste, it means it's fake. Pull after the bird's nest is completely opened. If the elasticity is good, it means it's fake.

7, taste

The high-quality raw bird's nest will have a little fishy smell when chewing, and the taste will disappear after stewing, with a light fragrance. If the bird's nest is particularly fishy when eaten, it means that it is of poor quality.

8, burning

Take a small piece of dry bird's nest and ignite it. The authentic bird's nest will splash with sparks and generate black ash after burning; the fake bird's nest will produce a crackling sound when burning.

How to keep dry bird's nest

Generally speaking, dry bird's nest can be preserved for three years. If the environment is suitable, the temperature and dry humidity do not change much. After five or six years, bird's nest can still be eaten.

But we also need to pay attention to the storage of bird's nest. After buying it, use a fresh-keeping box or some sealed fresh-keeping bags to keep it sealed, so as to avoid the slow oxidation of air, and then put it in the fresh-keeping or cold storage compartment in the refrigerator. It can also be completely dried and stored in a cool and ventilated place, and avoid strong direct sunlight. If the bird's nest is slightly moldy due to improper handling, such as too humid environment, don't worry too much here. Wipe it with a little water with a toothbrush, and then dry it with air or electric hair dryer.

Be careful not to use the sun to dry the bird's nest. No matter whether it's airing or air drying, avoid the sun, because the strong sunlight will seriously affect the quality of the bird's nest! If the bird's nest has become moldy and black, it can only be thrown away with pain and can't be eaten anymore, because the bird's nest has been corroded by bacteria, and the nutrients in it have been lost. Bird's nest is a very valuable tonic, so it is necessary to keep it well.
