CCTV reveals the harm of water in the engine of Volkswagen Touareg

4hw.com.cn: the first shot of CCTV 315 evening party, exposing the serious quality problem of Volkswagen Touareg engine water. Several consumers complained about the quality of Touareg, a subsidiary of Volkswagen, while Volkswagen also announced a recall of some imported Touareg. Water in the engine is a big problem for the car. Today, I'd like to talk with you about the harm of water in the engine to the car? How to detect whether the engine is flooded?

Harm of water in engine

After the vehicle wades into the water, the water enters the cylinder from the intake manifold. Because of the incompressibility of the water, the piston movement stroke will be shorter, which will lead to the bending or fracture of the engine connecting rod. Under extreme conditions, the broken connecting rod will fly out of the cylinder. The reason why the car stalls in the water is that the distributor loses its normal ignition function after the distributor cover is filled with water, the engine air filter element is soaked with water, resulting in the increase of intake resistance and the water in the combustion chamber, and the spark plug cannot be ignited. If the engine is restarted at this time, it is easy to knock out the cylinder. If there is water in the engine, there will be water in the engine oil, which will lead to oil deterioration and change its original performance. In this way, the engine oil can not play its role of lubrication, cooling, sealing, corrosion protection and so on, and the ultimate damage is the engine.

How to detect whether the engine is flooded

1. Check the oil: the simplest way is to check whether the oil color is abnormal. If the oil turns milky white, it means that there is water in the oil tank or engine.

2. Check whether there is water in each pipe. Check the air filter and the lower shell of the air filter one by one for obvious traces of water inflow, and check whether there are obvious traces of water inflow in the intake pipe and intake manifold.

3. Check the spark plug. Remove the spark plug of each cylinder and check whether it is wet. If it is wet, it indicates that the engine has signs of water ingress.

4. Check whether there is carbon deposit on the cylinder wall of the engine. When the engine is working normally, the position of the piston reaching the top dead center of each cylinder is the same, and the position of the top dead center of the cylinder wall is clear. When the engine water, because the water is difficult to be compressed, the piston can not reach the original top dead center position, the piston travel becomes shorter, and the top dead center position will move down obviously.
