Whether in the north or the south, there is a custom of eating dumplings on New Year's Eve in China. So how did you eat dumplings? Why do you eat dumplings for the new year? In fact, there are only three reasons, as follows:
First, according to ancient customs, dumplings are food eaten after the new year sacrifice. During the Chinese new year, we pay attention to wrapping when we keep the year old and eating when we say goodbye, that is, eating at midnight. This is the time of the turn of two years and welcoming the new year and saying goodbye to the old, which has special significance. It takes the meaning of "turning the year old into a child", and "Zi" is "Zishi", which is homonymous with "dumplings", which means happy reunion and good luck, indicating good luck in the new year.
Second, dumplings are shaped like Yuanbao. People eat dumplings during the Spring Festival to get the sound of 'Attracting Wealth and treasure'. Dumplings have stuffing, which is convenient for people to wrap all kinds of auspicious and happy things into the stuffing to place people's good expectations for the new year.
Third, dumplings themselves are delicious. There is a folk saying that "lying down is better than comfortable, and dumplings are better than delicious"
