Angkor Wat will be banned from Riding Elephants next year, and elephants will return to primitive life
A Cambodian government official confirmed on the 15th that elephant riding in Angkor Wat will be banned from 2020. Angkor historic sites attract a large number of foreign tourists every year, and many people choose to ride elephants for sightseeing.
A spokesman for the Angkor antiquities management department said that there were 14 elephants for tourists to ride, some of which were "old". They will move to a forest about 40 kilometers away from Angkor Wat to 'live their original life'.
