Jiangxi reservoir bottomed out due to continuous drought and little rain

Affected by the continuous drought and little rain, recently, many reservoirs in Jiangxi have dried up, and agricultural production has been seriously reduced.

In Yifeng County, Jiangxi Province, the water level of several reservoirs decreased to varying degrees. Shanpi reservoir, located in Jianjia village, Fangxi Town, dried up and its bottom cracked. The farmland in the lower reaches of shanpi reservoir also cracked to varying degrees. Some rice withered without rice grains and died.

Lu Linlin, director of Fangxi Waterworks in Yifeng County: shanpo reservoir has experienced a comprehensive drought for the first time since it was built for more than 30 years.

The water storage capacity of Wanxing reservoir in Datangbu Town, Xinfeng County, Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province, with a water storage capacity of 268000 cubic meters, is only one fifth. The water nearly 3 meters deep is now only 50 cm, the lowest level since records.

In Taihe County, Jiangxi Province, 24 of the 62 small type II reservoirs in the county have dried up since September this year. The water level is lower than the drainage outlet and cannot be irrigated. As a result, the yield of 110000 mu of paddy fields in the county has been damaged due to drought.
