What have the Oscar film rules changed
From the beginning of this Oscar, the award rules of 'best international film (formerly best foreign language film)' have been changed. Previously, the five finalists of the 'best foreign language film' were voted by a small number of heavyweight filmmakers from the members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Oscar sponsor. At the beginning of this year, all college members have the right to vote to select the five nominated films of 'best international film'.
The five films were selected from a short list of 10 films. The short list of 10 films was first selected by the college committee from the films selected by all the registration areas. This year, 93 countries and regions selected films to compete for the best international film of the Oscar, that is, 10 out of 93, 5 out of 10 and 1 out of 5.
The shortlist of 10 awards will be announced on December 16 this year, the nomination of 5 will be announced on January 13 next year, and the awards will be presented on February 9.

Other high-profile films selected by some regions include: parasite in South Korea, son of the weather in Japan, pain and glory in Spain, les miserables in France, Atlantic in Senegal, hip hop in India and so on.

In the past, the best foreign language film was shown in Los Angeles, New York and London over a weekend for a small number of College members to watch and nominate.
