Death toll from train explosion in Pakistan rises to 46

according to the associated press, Pakistani government officials said that the death toll of a moving train rose to 46 when a gas tank carried by passengers exploded and caught fire.

According to Reuters, the accident occurred on the morning of the 31st near Rahim Yar County in southern Punjab province, Pakistan. The fire caused by the explosion burned three carriages of the train.

Pakistan's Railway minister Rashid said, 'two stoves on the train were blown open & hellip& hellip; They are cooking and using cooking gas, which exacerbates the fire. " He added: 'most people died under the train because they fled and jumped off the train.'

Rashid said it was a common problem for people to sneak gas cans and stoves onto trains in order to prepare meals on long trips.
