How to deal with nosebleed in the elderly

In fact, nosebleeds are caused by fire in many people, but the elderly are not necessarily. Be careful of nosebleed in the elderly~

With the increase of age, the incidence of hypertension is increasing. Therefore, the incidence of epistaxis caused by hypertension is also increasing. Domestic scholars reported that in recent years, there are more and more patients with epistaxis caused by systolic hypertension. Such patients are often susceptible to mental and external environmental changes. Epistaxis usually occurs in the early morning or after activity.

Nosebleed in the elderly to guard against cerebral hemorrhage

Because the bleeding site is in the nasal tract, and the blood pressure is very high, the elasticity of blood vessels is poor, and the bleeding is fierce. When the patient sees more bleeding, the tension makes the blood pressure rise further, which leads to more bleeding. Therefore, the elderly patients with epistaxis should keep calm, and their families should comfort the patients to relax and tell them to spit out the blood flowing into the mouth as much as possible, so as to avoid vomiting caused by swallowing stimulation of the stomach. If the bleeding is not only caused, they should go to the hospital immediately for treatment. It should be noted that recurrent epistaxis is the precursor of cerebral hemorrhage, which is caused by the hardening of blood vessels in the nasal cavity of the elderly, the proliferation of fibrous tissue in the blood vessel wall, the decrease of the elasticity of the tube wall, and the increase of brittleness. When the blood pressure rises and the cerebral vessels are not ruptured, a certain blood vessel in the nasal cavity will rupture and cause epistaxis. Therefore, the elderly with hypertension and arteriosclerosis should be particularly vigilant.

At present, the main methods of treating epistaxis are nasal packing, microwave, laser and so on. After operation, patients with epistaxis should take antihypertensive and hemostatic drugs with the help of doctors, but they can't make their blood pressure drop too fast, because many elderly patients with hypertension, the important organs of the body have adapted to the state of hypertension, if the blood pressure drops too fast, it can make the renal blood flow sharply reduced, and affect the blood supply of the heart and brain, resulting in danger.

Experts remind: elderly patients with epistaxis, diet should be light and easy to digest, to ensure adequate sleep time, to maintain a happy mood, and to take a slow motion when lying, defecating, in order to prevent the rise of blood pressure and then cause epistaxis.
