Cong Weixi, born in Yutian, Hebei Province in 1933, is a famous contemporary writer and a member of the Chinese Writers Association.

Cong Weixi used the pseudonym bizheng and Congying. After graduating from junior high school, he worked as a primary school teacher and later as an editor and reporter of Beijing daily. He began to publish his works in the 1950s and imitated Sun Li in art. Before 1957, he published two collections of short stories "rain in July", "morning when dawn rises" and the novel "spring dawn on the South River". He is one of the representative writers of the "Lotus Lake School". He has experienced political ups and downs and hardships for more than 20 years, and has more understanding and experience of prison life.

There are many works in the new period, mainly including the novels "northern grass" and "naked snow", the novella collection "Cong Weixi novella collection", "footprints left on the beach", "white sails gone away", "snow falling on the Yellow River is silent", "broken flowers on the Post Road", the short story collection "Cong Weixi novella" and "white sleeping Lotus". He was admitted to Beijing Normal School in 1950 and began to publish his works in the same year. After graduation, he worked as a teacher, newspaper reporter and literary editor. He joined the Chinese Writers Association in 1956. He has published two collections of short stories and a novel. In the anti rightist struggle in 1957, he was classified as a rightist.

After returning to the literary world in 1979, he took the lead in publishing more than a dozen novelettes describing the life of reform through labor camps, such as the red Magnolia under the big wall. Therefore, he is known as the father of "big Wall Literature" in the literary world. His works have won many awards.

After 1984, he shifted his main energy to the creation of novels. The novel "north country grass", published in 1985, has won the excellent literature award four times in China and Beijing. Broken bridge, a long masterpiece published in 1986, won the best-selling Award for excellent literature. In 1989, he published his anti rightist memoir towards chaos, which aroused strong repercussions. Later, he completed the creation of three novels: naked snow, wine soul westward and fugitive. In addition, he has published a considerable number of short stories, essays and literary reviews. He is a hard-working writer. Some works have been translated into English, French, German, Japanese and Serbian. In the late 1980s, he was included in the world who's who and the biography of international celebrities compiled by Cambridge, England.
