It is understood that since 2011, Huawei and Samsung have held negotiations on patent cross licensing for many times, but there has been no substantive progress. Over the past eight years, the two sides have filed more than 40 lawsuits in China and relevant countries.
On January 11, 2018, the Shenzhen intermediate people's court made a first instance judgment on two of these cases and found that the 4G products produced and sold by Samsung in China infringed two patents of Huawei. Samsung objected and appealed to the Guangdong high court.
