Why do roses represent love

Because the origin of red rose has a beautiful and touching legend, it is regarded as a symbol of love.

In Greek mythology, Aphrodite, the God of love, is more beautiful than all the women in the world and becomes the object of most gods' admiration. Even Zeus fell in love with her at first sight, but she was rejected by Aphrodite. Zeus hated her so much that he married her with the ugly lame God of fire, hephaestos. The appearance of Vulcan was so ugly that even his mother Hera hated it. Aphrodite did not love Vulcan, but fell in love with Adonis.

Adonis was very fond of hunting. Aphrodite worried that he would suffer misfortune, many times advised him not to go, but Adonis did not listen. Once, when he went out hunting, a fierce wild boar suddenly came out in the forest in the mountains. Adonis was caught off guard. The wild boar bit off the artery of his foot and sprayed blood. Adonis fell to the ground.

Aphrodite heard Adonis scream from afar. She was so anxious that she ran to rescue her lover. The valley was full of white roses. The thorny roses cut Aphrodite's feet, legs and hands. The blood spilled all the way. But the God of love came late, and Adonis died in Aphrodite's leg. The God of love was so sad that he burst out crying. It is said that her lament was sung by later generations as the elegy of Adonis. The white rose with Aphrodite's blood later bloomed and turned into a red rose.
