Audi recalls 1.16 million vehicles worldwide

According to foreign media reports, German car manufacturer Audi announced a worldwide recall of 1.16 million vehicles, because the electric coolant pump failure may lead to vehicle fire.

It is reported that the recalled cars include six models produced by Audi from 2012 to 2017. Among them, 342867 vehicles were affected in the US market.

In a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Volkswagen Group, the parent company of Audi brand, explained: "the electric coolant pumps on the vehicles equipped with two liter turbocharged FSI engines may cause the vehicles to overheat after being blocked, and the moisture in them may also cause a short circuit. According to the document, Audi will replace the pump for the owner, but the details are unclear. Car owners will be informed of the progress on June 11.
