The first snake doctor in the world who dares to breathe poisonous snakes artificially

What is the scope of your cognition of Mangshan iron headed snake? As a species more precious than giant panda in the world, it has always been the favorite of Dr. Chen Yuanhui. As the first person in the world to give artificial respiration to poisonous snakes, let's take a look at how he and poisonous snakes are inextricably linked? Such a story is full of legend and adventure color!

Chen Yuanhui was the first person in the world to discover the Mangshan iron headed snake. Mangshan iron headed snake is a more rare snake species than giant panda. In order to protect and reproduce this endangered species, he used his living room and daughter's bedroom as a snake farm. He even gave artificial respiration to the injured snake and sent the snake to the hospital for surgery. Being bitten by a poisonous snake for dozens of times, he was able to escape from death & hellip; & hellip;

He is known as "Dr. snake" and has even been funded to build a statue for him. But behind his success, there is a special woman, his daughter Chen Xiangying.

Recently, with the publication of Dr. snake's new book practical tips for snakebite treatment, the reporter went to Yizhang, Chenzhou to interview the legendary father and daughter.

The father found more rare snake species than the giant panda, and the daughter ran away when she saw the snake

One evening in mid July 1995, Chen Xiangying, a 16-year-old girl who lived in the dormitory of Mangshan Forestry Administration Bureau in Yizhang County, Chenzhou City, came back from the outside. As soon as she stepped into the threshold, she exclaimed, "there is a snake!" and she turned around and ran. Father Chen Yuanhui chased her out and dragged her home: "you are 16 years old, and you are so timid. Snakes don't bite in cages. '

At that time, Chen Yuanhui was 46 years old. In his early years, he worked as a doctor in the Mangshan Forest Management Bureau staff hospital, and cured more than 300 patients bitten by snakes. In order to cure snakebite, it is necessary to study the species and toxicity of snakes, so Chen Yuanhui often takes poisonous snakes home after work.

Chen Yuanhui's fame for snakes stems from an accidental discovery in the spring of 1984. At that time, Chen Yuanhui caught a snake he had never seen in Mangshan Mountain. After years of research, he submitted the relevant information to the National Animal Protection Agency. In August 1990, Zhao Ermi, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, identified this snake as a new species that has never been discovered by human beings. Chen Yuanhui and Zhao Ermi jointly published the news in the academic journal Sichuan animal, confirming that this snake species is more rare than giant panda, and there are no more than 500 endangered species in the world, making it the 50th species of venomous snake found in China. Because its head looks like a soldering iron, it is officially named 'Mangshan iron headed snake'. Soon, Chen Yuanhui was transferred to the snake Research Laboratory of Mangshan Forest Management Bureau.

It is precisely because of the scarcity of iron headed snakes that an adult snake can sell more than 1 million yuan on the black market. Worried that another snake would be stolen, which would affect the number of snakes, Chen Yuanhui moved more than 20 injured iron headed snakes to his home, turning the living room and daughter's bedroom into a snake farm. His wife Wang Yinling couldn't bear it. She once said she wanted to divorce. Chen Yuanhui was in a hurry. He repeatedly told his wife the importance of this poisonous snake. Wang Yinling finally compromised. Later, because she could not afford meat to feed snakes, Wang Yinling raised chickens and ducks at home to feed snakes.

Thinking of those poisonous snakes, young Chen Xiangying dare not enter the house every time she stands at the door of her house. Once her father dragged her into the room, she jumped into bed and hid in the quilt and cried, "I'll be driven crazy by you sooner or later. At that time, many people approached Chen Yuanhui and offered to pay a high price for snakes, but they were all rejected by Chen Yuanhui.

'I would wake up in the middle of the night for several nights. But every time I woke up, my father was still sitting by the bed and sleeping. I told my father to go back to bed. My father said he would stay with me until the snakes were put back in the forest. "Chen Xiangying told reporters that at that time, she saw her father's eyes flushed and his cheeks were deeply sunk. She was very worried that he would become insensitive due to lack of sleep and be bitten by a poisonous snake and his life would be in danger. Therefore, she thought, if she was not afraid of snakes, he would sleep well without his father. To overcome the psychological fear, there is only one way, that is to touch the snake, dare to touch the fear. One day after breakfast, Chen Xiangying closed her eyes and asked her mother to put her hand on the snake caught by her father. She gently pressed her hand against the cold, soft snake, and felt its muscles wriggling under her skin, like a disgusting leech sticking to her palm. She screamed and vomited. But Chen Xiangying then forced herself to do it again. She was still afraid to open her eyes and clench her lips. She stretched out her trembling hand inch by inch until she touched the snake. This time, she finally overcame her fear and felt 'it's not as terrible as it seems'.

On one occasion, Chen Yuanhui gave medicine to an injured snake. He held the snake in one hand and reached into the drawer to look for tweezers. Suddenly, the snake suddenly turned around and broke free from his fingers and ran under the bed. Although there was no danger, Chen Xiangying thought it was a fluke. What if her father was bitten? Chen Xiangying bravely stood in front of her father and asked her father to teach him how to pinch the seven inch snake. A few days later, she was able to take the snake from her father's hand and control it.

Three months later, the Institute of snakes in Mangshan Nature Reserve was built, and the snake in Chen Yuanhui's family was removed.

In order to save her father, she stabbed a red steel needle into his wound

In late July 1997, Chen Xiangying went home for the summer vacation. Her father happily showed her 19 snake eggs. Father hatched them in hot water bags. Measure the temperature and humidity of the incubator every one hour and turn the eggs. Chen Yuanhui told her daughter that snakes hatch by natural conditions, but the bad environment makes the young snakes lose a lot. If the hatching is successful, the number of snakes will be increased.

Chen Xiangying helped her father with the incubator. In the dead of night and sleepy, parents take turns on duty. See parents care very hard, she thought of a way: buy a bunch of incense, soak in water, a little dry, can burn 45 minutes. She fixed incense on her fingers with a rubber band and could squint for more than 40 minutes on the table. When the incense burns to the finger part, it is roasted to wake up by the heat, then look at the watch to determine the turning time, and make a record of incubation. In this way, you can sleep while watching the snake eggs.

One day in October 1997, the mother called her daughter and said that 11 small snakes had been hatched at home. Chen Xiangying danced with joy. One summer later, she took the initiative to apply for the clinical specialty of Chenzhou medical college.

In August 2001, after graduating from medical college, Chen Xiangying resolutely returned to the Institute of snakes in Mangshan nature reserve to become a researcher because she was not sure her father was in danger alone. Over the years, Chen Yuanhui has been bitten by an iron headed snake for dozens of times. Each time, he was killed. Chen Xiangying would never give up her father's life.

Chen Xiangying once asked her father, if she was bitten by an iron headed snake, is there any antidote? Chen Yuanhui's answer is No. Because people don't know much about this snake. They don't even have the information and photos of the bite of the snake. How can there be anti-virus serum? Only use his own herbal medicine to detoxify. 'I've been bitten by it, and I have the ability to resist poison. If I get bitten, you must take photos first. I can survive until you save me. "Chen Yuanhui told her daughter.

One day in August 2004, Chen Yuanhui was bitten by a snake while releasing a half meter long iron headed snake. Chen Xiangying quickly picked up the medicine box and ran to give her father emergency treatment, but Chen Yuanhui urged her to take photos.

Chen Xiangying knew that her father would never receive treatment without taking pictures. She quickly raised the camera. In the camera window, my father's bloody finger was shaking. He was suffering from the erosion of poison. At the moment of quickly pressing the shutter, Chen Xiangying saw that the blood on her father's fingers gradually turned into porridge like, and small pieces of blood slipped down, gradually swelling around the wound. She almost pleaded and said, "Dad, I'm finished. I'll take the medicine."

Chen Yuanhui clenched his injured wrist with one hand and shivered with pain. However, he said in a non-negotiable way: "the swollen information is more important. Take a quick shot!"

Chen Xiangying blinked her eyes and squeezed out her tears. She pressed the shutter to her father's blackened fingers. In a series of "click" sound, she felt that her father's life was moving away. She resolutely put down the camera and helped her father sit on the ground.

Chen Yuanhui's fingers bitten by snakes have become stiff, and the venom has spread to the back of his hand. The venom is a blood circulation toxin that destroys the composition of blood cells and causes atherosclerosis. It can be fatal in 3 hours. Chen Xiangying quickly used the knife she carried with her to cut the cross of the snake teeth on her father's fingers one by one. She squeezed out the blood and took the long needle burned by others to burn the wound. This is the father summed up the first-aid method, high temperature can make snake venom protein calcification, thereby reducing the toxin effect.

Watching her father close her eyes in pain, Chen Xiangying's heart is torn and bleeding. But she had to do it. If she hesitated, her father's life was in danger.

Chen Xiangying held the needle into the skin of the wound. She heard her father's teeth clench with pain and kept humming. Her hands began to shake and tears welled up again.

After scalding the wound, apply the medicine immediately. With the help of all, Chen Yuanhui was moved to the stretcher. Back home, she laid his father flat on the bed, and with her mother immediately applied herbal medicine on his father's body, pried open his closed teeth, and poured down the soup with spoonful.

Two days later, Chen Xiangying kept wiping the sweat on her father's forehead, counting his pulse, hoping that her father would open his eyes. But her father did not respond to her call. The more she thought about it, the more scared she was: "Dad, you're so stupid! Is it worth your life to exchange for those photos? It's not worth it!" three days later, Chen Yuanhui hissed and opened his eyes slightly. Chen Xiangying fell on her father with sadness and joy: "my father wakes up! My father wakes up!" Chen Yuanhui holds her daughter's hand tightly.

On August 31, 2004, Chen Yuanhui went to the hospital to have his left middle finger amputated. Chen Xiangying stroked her father's hand wrapped in gauze, tears streaming down: "Dad, you have paid too much!" but Chen Yuanhui said with a smile: "with a piece of finger to exchange for such a precious photo, we have earned!"

Three months later, as soon as the wound healed, Chen Yuanhui went into the mountains impatiently and began to investigate the survival of his precious iron headed snake.

Father and daughter cooperate to do artificial respiration for poisonous snake

In October 2005, Chen Xiangying married Huang Rifei, who works in the Forest Management Bureau. The next autumn, their son Chen Weilong was born. Chen Yuanhui used some poisonous snakes as toys for his grandson. Chen Xiangying sees that her father is interested in cultivating Chen Weilong's interest in snakes and hopes that his son will become a third generation snake protector when he grows up.

In June 2008, Chen Xiangying brought back a 1.6-meter-long moribund snake in the wild. Chen Xiangying pried open its mouth and saw that the two poisonous teeth in the front of the jawbone had been broken, the gums were red and swollen, and the root of the teeth was pus. She quickly determined that the snake had stopped breathing. Chen Yuanhui shook his head regretfully, saying that it was a pity that such a big snake had died, and that if he was a man, he could do some first aid. Chen Xiangying said casually that snakes also have heart and lung, which can be used as first aid. Chen Yuanhui's daughter's words brightened Chen Yuanhui's eyes and immediately decided to give the snake artificial respiration. However, Chen Xiangying suddenly objected. She was worried that the snake would suddenly come alive and bite her father. Chen Yuanjin will not listen to the snake
