Lenovo integrates mobile phone and PC business to define future development strategy

Original title: Lenovo integrates smartphone and PC business to establish smart device group

Yang Yuanqing, chairman and CEO of sihai.com.com Lenovo Group, announced the establishment of intelligent device group (IDG) today by sending an e-mail on internal structure adjustment. The original PCSD and MBG business groups were merged into one. PCSD business is mainly for computers and smart devices, MBG business is mainly for mobile phones.

The following is the full text of the internal letter:

Dear colleagues, in the past April, we communicated with you at the swearing ceremony of all stations around the world. Your passion and love for Lenovo deeply infected me!

As I share with you, our industry is undergoing major changes, from PC Internet, mobile Internet to intelligent Internet of things (Intelligent IOT). More and more intelligent devices are being born, and more and more data are being generated, which will make our work, life, society and the whole world more intelligent. We are a leader in the PC market and have laid a solid foundation in the field of mobile Internet. Facing the future, we need to push the business of 'intelligent device (Intelligent IOT) + cloud' to a new height.

Based on this, we will adjust the organization and resources accordingly, establish intelligent devices group (IDG), integrate PCSD and MBG, and lead by Gianfranco. This enables us to make full use of the sharing platform that we have been building in the process of transforming from single business to multiple business, accelerate technology convergence (especially computing technology and communication technology), and make our various devices more intelligent and seamless.

In IDG, the relevant adjustments of MBG are as follows:

Sergio buniac, senior vice president and President of Motorola business, will continue to lead MBG's overseas business, report to Gianfranco, and continue to be a member of LEC. He will lead the team to focus on the market with competitive advantage and profitability.

Chang Cheng, the current Vice President of MBG China products, will act as the agent in charge of MBG China business and report to Liu Jun, which will help to make better use of the advantages of Lenovo brand in the Chinese market and the new retail platform being built by PCSD in China. Liu Jun will continue to lead China, report to Gianfranco, and continue to be a member of LEC.

At the same time, DCG provides another key element for AI computing power and its infrastructure. We will accelerate the development of 'infrastructure + cloud' business. DCG's organization and strategy will remain unchanged.

In addition, we are committed to building the capability of intelligent solutions for vertical industries through IOT, big data and artificial intelligence technology.

As the strategy becomes more and more clear, we will continue to promote the transformation of customer orientation. Our marketing will focus more on interaction with customers and make full use of digital marketing to promote real revenue growth.

In the process of practicing the new approach, David Roman, who has led the global market for more than eight years, will retire and Qiao Jian will be the global chief marketing officer and senior vice president of marketing. Dilip Bhatia will report to Gianfranco and Qiao Jian, and continue to lead PCSD and the company's overall customer experience work.

Qiao Jian's first job in Lenovo was marketing. He has accumulated profound professional experience in this field and is a respected market leader of Lenovo. She has also served as the group's head of strategy and planning and the group's head of human resources, playing a key role in Lenovo's globalization process. Her recent experience in charge of China mobile business gives her a deeper insight into end-to-end business operation. Her rich experience in many fields enables her to better use marketing resources to support the implementation of the company's overall strategy.

Here, I would like to thank David for his years of work and dedication in Lenovo. Under his leadership, Lenovo has changed from a company only famous in China to a globally recognized brand. It has not been ranked as one of the world's top brands and has been listed on the Interbrand top 100 list for three consecutive years. Please join me in wishing David every success in his future life.

With the new organization and strategy matching in place, let's twist into a rope, focus on strategy implementation and customer orientation, and accelerate the transformation to intelligent IOT and intelligent era!

thank you!

Yang Yuanqing, chairman and CEO of Lenovo Group
