Can long-term anxiety cause little girls to be thin?

Long term anxiety can cause small girls to be thin? According to a new special research conducted by the psychological research center of the State University of New York in the United States, compared with girls of the same age who are cheerful and happy, girls who suffer from tension and anxiety all day long tend to have abnormal physical growth and development. The typical result is that they are relatively short in stature, and these long "stiff" emotions are common After growing up, most of the girls who are nervous are difficult to be tall and full chested.

The findings were based on a 10-year long-term follow-up study of 716 9-18-year-old girls by child psychologist Daniel & middot; pass and his eight colleagues. Statistics show that the average height of anxious girls in the future will be 5.1cm shorter than those who feel cheerful and happy, and the possibility of becoming a woman over 1.57m in height will be reduced by two times in the future, and the possibility of becoming a woman over 1.62m in height will be reduced by five times.

In view of the fact that the parents of these girls who are often in a state of anxiety are mostly normal in height, they are not born short from a genetic point of view. Therefore, experts believe that negative emotions such as tension and anxiety may inhibit the normal secretion of certain hormones that are specially in charge of body growth and development. But what puzzled the experts was that they also found that nervousness did not lead to short stature. They believe that this may be related to the different physiological responses of boys and girls to mental stress. Other studies show that boys can better 'adjust' to mental stress of the same intensity. On the contrary, girls are often hard to extricate themselves from the 'control' of long-term negative emotions.

In previous studies, scientists have long found that adult patients suffering from panic disorder, depression and other psychological diseases often have abnormal body hormone secretion to control height. So the new findings don't really surprise experts.

Further research also showed that: two kinds of anxiety and height growth has a direct relationship. One is mainly from the family, which is called "separation tension". It means that some girls are worried about the possible divorce of their parents all day long. Sometimes, this kind of emotion is even so serious that they are unwilling to separate from their parents for even one minute, or they often say that they are sick at home rather than going to school. Some also show that they are still unwilling to sleep in different rooms with their parents before school age. The other is the so-called "nervous and anxious person who has become a habit" who mainly comes from outside the family. They are usually timid and lack confidence in their appearance, study, intelligence or sports level. They are afraid that teachers or friends will not like her and they are even more afraid of competing with others.

In the United States, at least 5% of girls are affected by this mental pressure. In China, however, experts believe that the proportion may be even higher because, under the influence of traditional oriental culture, Chinese girls are often not as optimistic and optimistic as their American counterparts in the face of mental pressure. Generally speaking, they are not so 'open-minded'.

In order to minimize the negative effects, experts believe that once parents find that their preschool and post-school girls are prone to stress and anxiety, they should immediately seek help from a doctor. They should not think that it is just a trivial matter, or that they will 'die and recover' after this age. Parents should also understand that there are many things that can cause mental stress in pre-school and post-school girls, including the relationship between parents, family economy, their own appearance, learning ability, communication level and behavior.

PAS also revealed that they suspect that negative emotions such as tension and anxiety may also affect the growth and development of children's brain, resulting in mental retardation or abnormalities. Therefore, they will make further research on this topic.
