Prevention and treatment of coronary heart disease patients, please eat "selenium" meal

Coronary heart disease (coronary atherosclerotic heart disease) is a disease that seriously affects human health and life safety. There are many reasons for arteriosclerosis. One of the reasons is that peroxidation damages the intima of arteries. After the artery intima is damaged, cholesterol, calcium and platelets are easy to agglomerate and deposit in the damaged area. The damaged subintima will have an inflammatory reaction, which thickens the vessel wall and forms arteriosclerosis.

There are many causes of coronary heart disease, selenium deficiency is one of them. Clinical observation found that the serum selenium content of patients with myocardial infarction and angina pectoris was significantly lower than that of healthy people. The study found that the more serious the coronary heart disease, the lower the blood selenium level. Therefore, the serum concentration of selenium will increase the risk of coronary heart disease. The preventive and therapeutic effects of selenium on coronary heart disease mainly include two aspects.

Stable and repair myocardial cells

Selenium is a strong antioxidant, and the arterial intima is prone to oxidative damage when selenium deficiency. In addition, selenium is involved in stabilizing and repairing the damaged myocardial cell membrane and maintaining the normal function of the cell. Adequate selenium can improve myocardial ischemia, accelerate the repair of damaged cells, reduce myocardial infarction area, increase coronary blood flow, improve microcirculation, and reduce myocardial oxygen consumption. In other words, the appropriate concentration of selenium has a protective effect on the arterial intima, thus preventing arteriosclerosis.

Prevention of thrombosis

In human platelets, the activity of glutathione peroxidase is particularly high and sensitive to selenium. Platelets from patients with selenium deficiency show enhanced aggregation. The vascular endothelial cells in patients with atherosclerosis are easy to be damaged and fall off, and platelets are easy to adhere to the vascular wall and cause thrombosis. Selenium supplement to patients with selenium deficiency can increase the activity of glutathione peroxidase in platelets, inhibit platelet aggregation, and prevent platelet thrombosis in arteries, thus preventing coronary heart disease.

Coronary heart disease is often accompanied by dyslipidemia, and selenium supplementation can increase the concentration of high-density lipoprotein in serum, which is beneficial to the improvement of cardiovascular function.

Therefore, the high-risk population of coronary heart disease (including hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, smoking, family history of heart disease and other risk factors) and patients with confirmed coronary heart disease (including patients who have been diagnosed with angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, patients who have been installed with coronary artery stents and coronary artery bypass grafting) should be supplemented with selenium.

People living in selenium deficient areas, people with low blood selenium level and people prone to brown spots should also be supplemented with selenium.

Selenium can be supplemented by food tonic, selenium health products, medicine, mainly food tonic. Many foods contain selenium, among which eggs, animal viscera, meat and seafood are good food sources of selenium. It should be noted that the intake of cholesterol and fat should be limited in patients with coronary heart disease. The intake of selenium should be 50 micrograms per day, and the maximum intake should not exceed 400 micrograms.
