Menopausal women walk more often and are healthier

How do menopausal women carry out their daily health care? A study published in the New England Journal of medicine shows that even an easy walk for postmenopausal women is equivalent to a fitness exercise: people who walk at a medium speed for at least two and a half hours a week can almost reduce the risk of heart infarction or moderate wind by one-third 。

JoAnn E. Manson, M.D., of Harvard University's Department of preventive medicine, followed more than 73000 postmenopausal women for an average of more than three years. The results showed that compared with those who had the least daily activities, those who walked at a moderate speed or participated in some other more intensive exercise for at least two and a half hours per week had a significantly reduced risk of heart related diseases by 30%, including heart infarction or stroke attack, having to undergo heart bypass surgery, heart failure or even death

The heart health benefits applied to almost all women who volunteered for the study, regardless of race, age or weight.
