Geminid meteor shower

Geminid meteor shower is a meteor shower caused by faertong asteroid, with a diameter of 5.1 kilometers and circling the sun every 1.4 years. In December every year, the earth's orbit "touches" faerton's same orbit. Faerton asteroid debris passes near the earth, falls into the earth's atmosphere under the influence of earth's gravity, and then is pneumatically heated and burned to form meteors. Gemini meteor shower is a meteor shower with the radiation point near Gemini. Geminid meteor shower, quadrant meteor shower and Perseid meteor shower are known as the three major meteor showers in the northern hemisphere. They visit the earth from December 4 to 17 every year, and the zenith flow per hour can reach about 120 at maximum. The Geminid meteor shower is one of the few meteor showers whose parent body is not a comet (the other is the quadrant meteor shower that appeared in early January), and its parent body is the asteroid 3200 phaerton. On December 14, 2020, the Geminid meteor shower will not be disturbed by moonlight. On December 13, the cold air brought by the west wind and north wind makes the air particularly transparent, which is very suitable for observation. From 22:00 on the 13th to 6:33 on the 14th, the central station of Zibo meteor monitoring station (Railway Primary School Station in Zhangdian District) captured 1020 meteors throughout the day! This is the largest capture of Zibo meteor monitoring station in the past three years. The number of meteors captured in one hour is more than 180, 3:155 and 4:168. These data exceed the predicted value of 150 meteors per hour, and there are more than 20 pictures, each with 2 ~ 3 meteors. (ShuangZiZuoLiuXingYu)
