Mu Us desert is located in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province, China. Maowusu Desert used to be a fertile place with water and grass. Later, it was formed because of people's unreasonable reclamation and vegetation destruction.
Maowusu Desert, also known as Ordos sandy land, was originally a place with developed animal husbandry and a large area of sand dunes. Later, the vegetation was damaged due to unreasonable land reclamation, forming the current desert.
Mu Us desert is actually a relatively large sandy land. It is located on the concave land of an alluvial plain between Ordos Plateau and Loess Plateau. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast. It is generally flat.
Because the Mu Us desert is located in Yulin City, Yulin city is also called camel City, which means the city of desert. Later, the government controlled the Mu Us Desert and built windbreaks, water diversion and sand pulling projects.
