1411 5g patents in China: 62% of the company's patents, 20% of the University's patents

On October 31, Chen Zhaoxiong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of industry and information technology, announced the official launch of 5g business at the Opening Forum of China International Information and Communication Exhibition 2019. He said that China's 5g business process is speeding up. Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou and other urban areas have achieved continuous coverage. It is expected that more than 130000 5g base stations will be opened nationwide by the end of the year.

According to lplytics statistics, Chinese manufacturers' 5g standard essential patents (SEP) account for 36%, leading the United States, South Korea, Finland, etc. Among them, Huawei leads the 5g standard essential patents and standard technology contribution, with 2160 applications for 5g standard essential patents, accounting for 18%, ranking first among all manufacturers.

According to Tianyan data, there are 1411 patents with '5g' in China's patent names. Among them, 5g patents applied by companies are the most, accounting for 61.94%. The number of patents applied by universities is 286, and 71 universities hold 5g patents. In addition, there are several 5g patents for companies and universities.
