5g spark New Zealand keeps Huawei in the list of preferred equipment suppliers

On November 18, according to foreign media reports, spark New Zealand, a New Zealand Telecom and digital service provider, said on Monday that it had abandoned its plan to launch 5g services only by Huawei, but would leave Huawei on the list of three preferred equipment suppliers.

Spark said it would work with Nokia to launch 5g services as part of its phased implementation strategy, which has been approved by the New Zealand government.

Spark said the three preferred suppliers include Nokia, Samsung Electronics and Huawei. But spark has yet to submit an application for Huawei or Samsung devices.

Spark said it will launch 5g broadband services in five areas of New Zealand's South Island by Christmas, and in major central areas from mid-2020.

In October, Huawei disclosed that it had signed 65 5g commercial contracts, half of which were from European customers.
