Chengde summer resort is the Imperial Palace in ancient China, and the place for the emperors in Qing Dynasty to take summer vacation and deal with government affairs. Summer resort is divided into palace area, Lake area, plain area and mountain area.
The palace area is located on the South Bank of the lake, with flat terrain. It is the place where the emperor deals with government affairs, holds celebrations and lives.
The lake area is to the north of the palace area, covering about 43 hectares including the island.
The original area is located at the foot of the mountain in the north of the lake area. The terrain is open, with wanshuyuan and shimadai. It is a piece of green grass, lush trees and vast grassland scenery.
The mountain area is in the northwest of the villa, accounting for about four fifths of the whole garden area. There are undulating mountains, crisscross gullies, and many buildings, pavilions and temples dotted among them.
In the East and North foothills of the summer resort, there are magnificent temples. These are the eight outer temples. Their names are: Puren temple, Pushan Temple (destroyed), Pule temple, Anyuan temple, Puning Temple, xumifu temple, Putuo Zongcheng temple and Shuxiang temple.

Transportation: the summer resort is located in Chengde city. The transportation is very convenient. A taxi starts at 5 yuan. Generally, it doesn't cost more than 10 yuan from any point in the city.
