Historical evolution
In January 1953, Shaoxing Lu Xun memorial hall was established. It is the earliest Memorial Museum for people in Zhejiang Province after the founding of the people's Republic of China. Its main task is to publicize and educate Lu Xun's life and deeds, collect and protect Lu Xun's cultural relics, and conduct scientific research on Lu Xun's thoughts and works. After half a century of trials and hardships, it has developed into a 'window' and a famous cultural landscape of Shaoxing, a famous historical and cultural city.
In 1988, Lu Xun's former residence (including Sanwei bookstore and Zhou's Laotaimen) was listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit.
In 1994, the memorial hall was rated as the national excellent social education base.
In 1996, it was named Zhejiang civilization demonstration Museum.
In 1997, it was named one hundred national patriotic education demonstration bases, and the memorial hall was open to the public throughout the year.
