Who is the real king of Chongqing, Xi'an and Chengdu?

"May Day" 4-day long vacation ended, and all kinds of travel bills and rankings soared. For example, at the provincial level, Sichuan ranked the first in China in terms of the number of tourists received by 43.2287 million during the "May 1st" period. Jiangxi, Henan and Chongqing are also in the forefront. So, as the most popular online cities in China, Chongqing, Xi'an and Chengdu, whose fame is greater?

In the long run, the performance of the three cities is as follows:

Chongqing received 25.5965 million domestic and foreign tourists, realizing a total tourism revenue of 20.016 billion yuan. The year-on-year growth was 10.6% and 33.5% respectively on a comparable basis.

Chengdu received 13.353 million tourists and achieved a total tourism revenue of 21.202 billion yuan.

Xi'an received 13.0249 million tourists in total, an increase of 28.38% over last year's May Day holiday; the total revenue of the tourism industry was 6.634 billion yuan, an increase of 47.46% over last year's May Day holiday.

The number of tourists received in Chongqing is absolutely the first, almost the sum of Chongqing and Xi'an. Of course, it has a direct bearing on the population of the city.

In terms of growth rate, Chengdu has not announced this year. Compared with Xi'an, Chongqing is obviously better than Xi'an, which once again continues the online Red temperament.

In terms of income, Chengdu is the first, Chongqing is the second, and Xi'an is the least. In terms of per capita tourism consumption, Chengdu is also significantly higher than the other two cities, while Xi'an is slightly higher than Chongqing.

Behind this gap, we do not exclude the differences in statistical caliber.

Chengdu's per capita tourism consumption is high, which should be related to Sichuan, which is rich in tourism resources. For example, there are relatively more transit and overnight tourists. Most of the tourists who go to Leshan Giant Buddha, Emei Mountain and other scenic spots in Sichuan arrive in Chengdu first. The resulting consumption is not a small number.

To some extent, Chengdu plays the role of the whole Sichuan tourism hub.

Of course, Sichuan's tourism resources are relatively rich, and they are mutually supportive in attracting tourists. Taking tourism resources as an example, there are 12 5A scenic spots in Sichuan, 9 in Shaanxi and 8 in Chongqing.

The number of inbound tourists is the first in Chongqing and the growth rate in Xi'an is rapid

After the tourism data is published every year, the authenticity of the relevant data often causes discussion and controversy.

Take this year's May Day holiday as an example. According to the data released by the Ministry of culture and tourism, during the May Day holiday, the total number of domestic tourists received is 195 million, and the tourism revenue is 117.67 billion yuan.

If according to the data released by Chongqing, Chengdu and Xi'an, the tourism revenue of the three cities accounts for nearly half of the national total, this is obviously not a fact. But we can't say that there is a problem with the data, only that there are differences in the statistical accounting caliber.

However, one data that may be hard to dispute is the number of inbound tourists.

According to the statistical bulletin data of each city:

Chongqing received 3.8802 million inbound tourists and foreign exchange revenue of 2.190 billion US dollars, up 8.3% and 12.4% respectively.

Chengdu received 3.406 million inbound tourists in 2018, an increase of 13.0%, of which the inbound tourism revenue was US $1.45 billion.

The data of inbound tourists in Xi'an in 2018 has not been released. In 2017, the number of people reached 1.7513 million, an increase of 30.6% year on year, and foreign exchange revenue reached 1.184 billion US dollars, an increase of 30.5% year on year.

In terms of the total number of inbound tourists, Chongqing is still the first, and Xi'an is in the leading position in terms of growth rate.

However, it should be noted that due to the close geographical location, there should be a considerable proportion of inbound tourists from Chongqing and Chengdu. For example, foreign tourists to Sichuan may fly (or train or cruise ship) to Chongqing first, while those to Chongqing may fly (or train) to Chengdu first.

Xi'an has the highest dependence on tourism industry

In the era of global tourism, no city does not attach importance to tourism. As the representative of wanghong City, the three western heroes are even more so.

Based on the ratio of tourism income to GDP, the Western fungus makes an unscientific comparison on the components of tourism industry in three cities.

Take 2018 as an example, the ratio of Chongqing's tourism revenue to GDP is 4344.15:20363.19, which is 1:4.7 after simplification.

Chengdu is 3712.6:15342.77, simplified to 1:4.1.

Xi'an is 2554.81:8349.86, simplified to 1:3.3.

According to the above results, Xi'an has the highest dependence on tourism industry among the three cities. On the one hand, it shows that Xi'an's tourism strength is strong, but it also reflects that Xi'an's GDP has more room to improve.

At the policy level, the three cities have relatively high positioning for tourism industry.

The overall planning of Chongqing Tourism Development (2016-2030) proposes to accelerate the cultivation of tourism industry as a comprehensive strategic pillar industry and build Chongqing into an international famous tourism destination.

Chengdu tourism development plan proposes to comprehensively enhance the international competitiveness of Chengdu tourism, and build tourism into a strategic pillar industry to promote economic development, promote urban-rural integration, promote ecological landscape, and a happiness oriented industry to benefit the whole people.

The Xi'an tourism industry multiplication plan (2018-2021) issued by Xi'an last year made it clear that we should accelerate the development of tourism industry, promote the transformation and upgrading of tourism industry, build a global tourism pattern, and accelerate the construction of an international tourism city and a world tourism fashion capital.
