When does the cherry blossom?

The cherry blossom period is relatively short. There is a saying in Japan: "cherry blossom on the 7th", that is, one Cherry Blossom lasts about 7 days from opening to withering, and the whole cherry tree lasts about 16 days from flowering to withering, forming the characteristics of Cherry Blossom opening and falling. Cherry Blossom opens in March.

The opening hours of cherry blossom in many parts of China are different. If we want to count the opening hours of all cherry blossoms in China, we can start from December this year to May and June next year.

The cherry blossom of Wuda is in the middle of March, the most prosperous in the last ten days, and the flowering period is relatively short, only about 13-20 days. In this winter (December 2016 to February 2017), the temperature in Hubei Province is significantly higher. For three consecutive months, Wuhan is warmer than the same period throughout the year. The average temperature in winter is about 2 ℃ higher than the same period in history. It is expected that cherry blossom will open in early March 2017.

Every March, in Wuhan University, known as "the most beautiful university in China", the breath of spring blows the mountains and wakes up the cherry blossom that has been sleeping for a year. More than 1000 cherry blossoms are blooming in the campus. One cherry blossom, row by row, is as white as frost and snow, as bright as clouds, as light flying clouds. It is very gorgeous and dazzling, making the original quiet campus a lively spring park. From the main archway of the school to the school road of Luojia mountain, there are lots of people who come to enjoy the cherry trees in groups. The flowers are like the sea and the people are like the tide.

Reproduction mode

Mainly sowing, cutting and grafting. In order to breed cherry blossoms by sowing, pay attention not to dry the embryo, but to sow with picking or wet sand layer in spring next year. The seedling of cherry and cherry can be used as Rootstock in grafting culture. It can be cut in late March or budding in late August. After three to four years of cultivation, it can be planted out of the nursery.

Sowing: seeds of Cherry Blossom should be sown after being picked, and should not be dried. Because the seeds are dormant or stored by sand in the spring of the next year, they are used to cultivate seedlings for grafting.

Cuttage: annual hardwood in spring, annual tender in summer. The cuttage can be treated with NAA, and the seedbed needs a good medium of shading, moisturizing and ventilation to have a high survival rate.

Grafting: because most species of cherry do not bear fruit, grafting can be done with cherry (Cerasus pseudocerasus) or mountain cherry as standing wood, either by cutting in late March or budding in late August. After 3-4 years of cultivation, it can be planted out of the nursery. Cherry Blossom can also be grafted with high branches. The scion of pruning can be inserted into the rootstock by splitting, wrapped with plastic bags, covered with plastic bags for heat preservation and protection, with high survival rate, which can be used to replace new varieties.
