Shaolin Temple is a famous Buddhist temple in the world and a Zen ancestral hall of Chinese Buddhism. It occupies an important position in the history of Chinese Buddhism and is known as the "No.1 temple in the world". It is famous all over the world for its Shaolin Kungfu, which has been researched and developed by Shaolin monks of all ages.

In August 2010, the historic buildings in Tiandi, including Shaolin Temple, chuzu'an and Tallinn, were listed as world cultural heritage by UNESCO.

How was the Longmen Grottoes destroyed?

From 1907 to 1918, Longmen Grottoes were destroyed and robbed on a large scale in modern times; from 1918 to 1935, Longmen Grottoes suffered the most serious disaster in history. After two field visits to Longmen, Japanese scholar Guan nozhen wrote in a Book: 'most of the Buddha heads carved in the caves can be removed and sold to foreigners. In 1965, the cultural and Museum Research Institute of the Ministry of culture and the Longmen cultural relics preservation Institute jointly investigated and calculated that there were more than 78 stolen traces of Longmen West Mountain in the grottoes. In the survey of the ruins of Longmen Grottoes written by Wang Zhenguo, a grotto expert, further identified 96 grotto niches with the most serious damage, 262 main statues such as Buddha and Bodhisattva, 1063 statues, 8 niches and lintels, 10 pictures of Buddha sculptures, 16 worshippers, 15 inscriptions, 18 censers, pagodas, animal heads, golden winged birds, etc. Experts believe that this report roughly outlines 70% of the total number of stolen chisels in Longmen Grottoes. Since 1991, Longmen Grottoes Research Institute has started to investigate the lost overseas Buddha sculptures. At present, 70 lost Buddha sculptures have been found out and stored in museums, art galleries and private collectors around the world. Experts predict that with the deepening of the work of returning lost cultural relics, there will be more lost cultural relics in Longmen Grottoes to return home.

1. Songshan Shaolin scenic spot

Songshan Shaolin scenic spot is located in Dengfeng City, Henan Province. Songshan Mountain in Zhongyue is composed of Taishi mountain (1494m) and Shaoshi mountain (1512m). It stands in the Central Plains, with numerous peaks. Located in the ancient capital of Bian and Luo, it has been a gathering place of literati since ancient times. There are a lot of places of interest and historic sites left by emperors and generals, literati who study soil, eminent monks, famous Taoism and boxing heroes.

2. Longmen Grottoes

Longmen Grottoes is one of the treasures of Chinese stone carving art. It is now a world cultural heritage site, a national key cultural relics protection unit, and a national AAAAA level tourist attraction. It is located on Longmen Mountain and Xiangshan Mountain on both sides of Yihe River, Luolong District, Luoyang City, Henan Province. Longmen Grottoes, Mogao Grottoes, Yungang Grottoes and Maijishan grottoes are the four largest Grottoes in China.

Longmen Grottoes were built in the reign of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty. After that, it has been built in large scale for more than 400 years in the Eastern Wei, Western Wei, Northern Qi, Sui, Tang, Five Dynasties, song and other dynasties. It has a length of 1 km from north to South. Now there are 2345 grottoes, more than 100000 statues and more than 2800 inscriptions. Among them, "Longmen twenty products" is the essence of calligraphy and Wei tablet. Zhu Suiliang's book "the monument of Yi Gu Shrine" is a model of regular script art in the early Tang Dynasty.

3. Luoyang Baiyun Mountain Scenic Spot

Luoyang Baiyun Mountain scenic area is located in the hinterland of Funiu Mountain in the south of Song County, Luoyang City, Henan Province. It is a World Geopark, a National Forest Park, a National Nature Reserve, a national 5A tourist attraction and one of the top ten leisure resorts in China. Baiyun peak, Yuhuangding, jijiaoman, Jiulong waterfall, five scenic spots of primitive forest and five leisure areas of Baiyun Lake, alpine forest oxygen bar, alpine peony garden, liuhou temple and Luhua valley have been developed.

4. Yaoshan Zhongyuan Buddha Scenic Area, Lushan County, Pingdingshan

Central Plains Buddha, located in Yaoshan foquan temple, Lushan County, Pingdingshan City, Henan Province, is the highest Buddhist statue in the world. The total height of the Buddha is 208 meters, 108 meters, the lotus seat is 20 meters, the King Kong seat is 25 meters, and the Xumi seat is 55 meters. The Central Plains Buddha began to be built in 1997. On September 9, 2008 (the first day of September in the lunar calendar), 108 monks from four places on both sides of the Taiwan Strait jointly came to light. After 12 years, the investment is 1.2 billion yuan. The whole Buddha statue is made of 3300 tons of copper, 108 kg of gold, 15000 tons of special steel, with a surface area of 11300 square meters and 13300 pieces of copper plates welded.

The Tianrui auspicious gold bell in the scenic spot, with a net weight of 116 tons, is the "world's largest bronze bell" recorded in the Guinness Book of world records. President of the world Buddhist Association and master Xingyun, the founder of Mount Foguang in Taiwan, wrote the word "the world's largest Central Plains Buddha" for the Buddha. The Grand Buddha is majestic and towering at the foot of Yaoshan mountain, surrounded by nine layers of mountain peaks. The holy water of Shahe and the soup land of Buddha spring flow for four seasons in front of the Buddha, with rich landscape resources and beautiful environment. In 2011, Zhongyuan Grand Buddha Scenic Area was listed as a national 5A level tourist attraction.

5. Luoyang Longtan Grand Canyon Scenic Area

Longtan gorge is formed by the erosion of water and wind and rain in the process of crustal movement. The traces of geological history can be seen everywhere in Longtan gorge, where the majestic process of crustal movement will reappear. The main characteristics of Henan are:

1. Climate characteristics: most of Henan Province is located in the warm temperate zone, with the south across the subtropical zone. It belongs to the continental monsoon climate of transition from the north subtropical zone to the warm temperate zone. At the same time, it also has the characteristics of transition from the east to the West from the plain to the hills and mountains, with four distinct seasons, the same period of rain and heat, complex diversity and frequent meteorological disasters.

2. Characteristics of water resources: most of the rivers in Henan Province originate from the west, northwest and Southeast. There are more than 1500 main rivers crisscross in Henan Province, including 493 rivers with a drainage area of more than 100 square kilometers.
