The owner of "Oriental Princess" was detained by Guangzhou Maritime Court in 2002 due to her default of Chinese seafarers' wages. After several changes of hands, the ship was purchased by Tanggu state owned assets investment and Operation Co., Ltd. and arrived in Tanggu on December 25, 2002.
After the arrival of the "Oriental Princess" in Tanggu, Tianjin Dawei Group signed an agreement with Tanggu Guotou to jointly contribute to the renovation of the Oriental princess. After renovation, it is now parked at the Bund Park wharf of Tanggu District.
This cruise ship has made movies like "gambler", "gambler saint" and "gambler God". Zhou Xingchi, Zhou Runfa, Liu Dehua, etc. have all made plays on this cruise ship.
