Quanzhou is a prefecture level city in Fujian Province. Many people visit Quanzhou every year. Quanzhou is known as the Silk Road on the sea. There are also many scenic spots along the way. In order to pray for a safe journey, there are also many fragrant temples or memorial temples in Quanzhou. These temples have also become a highlight and a scenic spot in Quanzhou. So, the most famous temple in Quanzhou?
Kaiyuan Temple
"This place was called the Buddha kingdom in ancient times, and the streets are full of saints.". This is Zhu Xi's evaluation of Quanzhou, a famous historical and cultural city in the Song Dynasty. Through the West Street, you can see two towering towers far away. The red tile and yellow walled temples are more and more solemn and holy under the lush banyan trees in Southern Fujian.
For Quanzhou people who believe in Buddhism, Kaiyuan Temple is an important place for New Year holidays and daily prayer and worship. In particular, on the 26th day of every month, there are 12 times a year, which is the most lively for head worship and tail worship: make a wish at the beginning of the first month and repay it in person at the end of the twelfth month. From 11:00 p.m. on the 25th day of the twelfth lunar month to 12:00 p.m. on the 26th day of the twelfth lunar month, the 13 hour twelfth lunar month Temple Fair attracted nearly 40000 pilgrims.
Chengtian Temple
Compared with the bustle of Kaiyuan Temple and the arrival of thousands of visitors, Chengtian Temple obviously has a lot less traffic. The former is full of incense and surrounded by Sanskrit; The latter is quiet and secluded. The people in the temple are not as noisy and hurried as in Kaiyuan Temple, but three or five people stop to think and watch.
Chengtian temple was an important place for master Hongyi during his stay in Southern Fujian. It was the most important place for him to live and preach the Dharma. It was also the place where Master Hongyi settled as a monk. In February 1930, master Hongyi moved to xichengtian temple at the invitation of master Xingyi to help yuan establish the platform Buddhist research society. During 1933, the mage lived in Chengtian Temple several times, vigorously assisted the mage in promoting the education of monks, founded the Shengxi help reading association, burned the vows of learning laws in Nanshan law garden in front of the Buddha, sorted out the Scriptures in the Sutra Pavilion of Chengtian temple in his spare time, and inscribed the seal plaque of 'Sutra Pavilion'. In November 1935, due to the winter abstinence period in Chengtian temple, master Hongyi and master zhuanchen repeatedly begged for help. Master Hongyi was invited to preach the law in the temple. Many people came to be preached. The abstinence hall could not accommodate them. The lecture was held in the open air for three consecutive days to preach the essentials of law. During Chengtian's small stay, the master used his spare time to revise and basically finalize the chronology of master Ouyi. In the early winter of 1938, master Hongyi passed through Chengtian temple and was retained by various good friends. He continued to live in other hospitals on the tin platform, preached scriptures and preached Dharma, inscribed words and gave printed scriptures to the public. At 8 p.m. on October 13, 1942, master Hongyi passed away peacefully in the Wanqing room of Quanzhou Wenling nursing home. At 3 p.m. on October 15, he led a niche to install a seat in Chengtian temple. At 7 p.m. on October 20, he held a tea party in Chengtian temple.
Guan Yu Temple
Quanzhou's strong religious atmosphere can be seen not only in the continuous incense of Buddhist holy places, but also in the local Taoist beliefs. Guandi worship has always been one of the main beliefs of Chinese people since ancient times. Guandi temple in Quanzhou has been one of the six ancestral temples of Guangong belief for more than 600 years since Hongwu. It is also the largest martial temple in Fujian Province.
The people of Southern Fujian were the earliest pioneers of China going to sea. They also spread Guan Gong's belief all the way to Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Southeast Asia. The traditional commercial culture values loyalty and integrity since ancient times. Therefore, Guan Gong has become the protector of Commerce. There are many believers among the people. Guandi temple has become one of the most popular temples in Southern Fujian, According to friends in Fujian, people in Southern Fujian especially believe in Guan Gong. In addition to reading, everyone will go to the Confucian temple to find Confucius. All other things and wishes such as business, marriage, job hunting or health are contracted by brother Guan.
The pilgrimage to Guandi temple is an extremely complex process. After we bought incense at the door, the mother-in-law who sold incense gave us a large bundle of incense and explained it three times. It seems that there are 13 steps. We need to go to each fixed corner of Guandi temple to pray one by one and ask for a visa after the incense is finally done
Confucious'Temple
The Confucian temple is not far from the Wu Temple and covers a large area, but the incense is no better than the Wu Temple. After all, the business type is single. But the scenery in the Confucian temple is not bad at all. Under the cover of banyan trees, the book details can not be covered up. Confucian Temple (Confucian Temple) is located in Pan palace, Zhongshan middle road in the urban area. It is the most characteristic Confucian temple complex in the southeast coast integrating the architectural forms of the song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. The overall layout of the building is symmetrical, the building is beautiful and the shape is unique. It is the perfect integration of Central Plains culture and southern Fujian style.
Perhaps because of Zhu Xi's indissoluble relationship with Quanzhou, Quanzhou's Confucian atmosphere is also very strong. If the endless incense in the martial Temple makes people feel at ease, the regular and calm Confucian temple makes people feel at peace. It is also a clear and calm tone in the bustle.
Qingjing Temple
With the prosperity of the maritime Silk Road, Quanzhou's attraction to the other side of the ocean is also increasing day by day. Arabs in the distance came to China with goods in one hand and the Koran in the other, and Islam began to spread to the East. Quanzhou is recognized as the birthplace of Islam that first spread to China from the sea. In its heyday, there were as many as seven mosques in Quanzhou.
Qingjing temple, located between Confucian architecture (Fuwen Temple) and Taoism (guanyue Temple), is the only one left today. Although the main body and main hall of the temple have been completely destroyed, leaving only the appearance for people to pay attention to, this earliest and oldest existing Islamic temple with Arab architectural style in China is still a cultural spectacle bred by Haisi ancient port.
