According to Taiwan media, the passage of the draft means that Taiwan has become the first region in Asia to legally protect same-sex marriage.
In 2017, Taiwan's' chief justice 'announced that the provision that' civil law 'does not allow same-sex marriage' is' unconstitutional '. The competent authorities should protect same-sex marriage by law and correct it within two years. Same sex couples over the age of 18 may enter into same-sex marriage
