Although the same standard Falcon rocket fairing has been used for many years, SpaceX managed to cram 60 satellites (each weighing about 200-300 kg) into the bottom of the fairing, leaving a significant amount of unused volume for future expansion.
Musk said that SpaceX has actually completely got rid of the middleman of the satellite distributor, and relies on the structure of the satellite itself to act as their own launch adapter and deployment mechanism.
