Why is Beijing catkins so serious

The schedule of flying catkins in Beijing is coming out. East and West cities are the first to meet the peak, and Chaoyang District has the most flying catkins! So these days, for sensitive people, we must take protective measures when going out, try to stay indoors and wear masks when going out.

The reporter learned from the municipal Landscaping Bureau that by the end of 2018, there were 284000 female willow trees in the Fifth Ring Road of the city, among which Chaoyang District had the most, reaching 107000. There are 66000 in Fengtai District, 60000 in Daxing District, 37000 in Haidian District, 4300 in Dongcheng District, 3900 in Shijingshan District and 3900 in Xicheng District. It is understood that more than 6 of these 280000 female willow trees are growing well, which is the main reason for the flying catkins in spring in Beijing.

Because of the different climate conditions in different regions, the time of producing flying catkins is different. In Dongcheng, Xicheng, Fengtai and Western Chaoyang, the peak of flying catkins appeared first, followed by Haidian, Daxing, Tongzhou and Shunyi, while in Huairou, Miyun and Yanqing, the time of flying catkins was the latest, and the period of floating catkins of poplar was about 10 days earlier than that of willow.

In order to carry out the management of flying catkins without damaging the ecological function of poplar and willow, the municipal Landscaping Department put forward the work plan of local implementation and centralized management. Hospitals, kindergartens, schools, urban parks, large communities and other key areas are crowded, and catkins have a great impact on the public, so we should focus on governance. The population density in rural areas and suburbs is small, and the impact of willow catkins is relatively small. As a slow control area, it should be gradually controlled according to the degree of impact. In the mountainous and outer suburbs, the population density is small and the distribution of willow trees is remote, which makes the female trees grow naturally.
