He is currently studying in the third grade of the Academy of Dramatic Arts. He said that he participated in the recruitment screening because when he was old enough to join the army, he hoped to conscientiously fulfill his responsibility of being a Thai boy once. As for why he dressed so delicately, he said that this was to show his attitude. He didn't want to be a soldier because he was a woman both physically and mentally, and he also brought relevant medical certificates.
According to Thai law, all men born male must go to the draft lottery or choose to serve voluntarily when they reach the age of 21. However, men who have completed sex change surgery are exempt from military recruitment. These transsexuals have medical certificates in their hands. Doctors will check whether they have undergone transsexual surgery separately and issue a certificate of 'gender cognitive impairment' for them.
Previously, the Thai military issued military service exemption certificates to transgender people on the grounds of "psychological abnormality", or classified such people as "chest deformity", allowing men who had breast augmentation, long hair and feminized behavior to be exempted from military service.
The Thai military says it treats transgender people well and weakens previous descriptions of transgender people. A lieutenant commander in charge of conscription in Bangkok said: "the military has been instructed to treat and respect transgender men who used to be men as they are women.".
