How to choose fresh mangosteen? It's sweet and tender to pick bamboos like this

Although most people like to eat mangosteen, they can't choose them. Every time they buy a pile from the supermarket, there are always several that can't be eaten. It's a pity to throw away such expensive fruits. So we must do a good job when picking them. Today, we'll teach you how to choose fresh mangosteen, so that we won't step on thunder in the future!

1、 Look at the appearance

Because of the high price of mangosteen, we can't taste it like grapes. Moreover, the pulp of mangosteen is wrapped by thick shell. We can't directly see whether the pulp is fresh or not. Therefore, we can only identify the freshness of mangosteen by its appearance. But don't underestimate the appearance of these information, they can also be very intuitive to tell you: whether the bamboo is fresh and delicious. We can observe the appearance information of the stem, shell and sepal of mangosteen by naked eyes to confirm the number of slices of mangosteen fruit, whether it is fresh or not, and whether there are insects.

① Look at Gotti

Let's first look at the stem of the mangosteen. The so-called stem is the handle connecting the head of mangosteen fruit and the leaves around it. They can directly reflect the picking time and storage time of mangosteen. First look at the color of the stem. The more green the color is, the shorter the picking time and storage time of mangosteen are, and the fresher the bamboo is. On the contrary, if the leaf color turns brown or withered yellow, it means that the mangosteen has been stored for a long time, and the bamboo is no longer fresh.

Then we look at the number of upper leaf petals of the fruit stalk. The vast majority of the upper leaf petals of mangosteen are four. The four leaf petals represent its high maturity and complete development, so the taste of mangosteen will be better. There are also some mangosteen with three leaf petals. Such mangosteen have immature or precocious development, and there will be some defects in the taste. Therefore, when purchasing, you can pick out three pieces of mangosteen and focus on the four leaf ones.

② Look at the shell

When observing the shell, we first observe the appearance of the shell as a whole. First of all, there should be no yellow juice on the surface of the fruit shell, because it is likely that the fruit pulp is rotten; secondly, the outer skin should be intact without depression, damage and hard block, so that the shell will not cause bacteria to enter the flesh; Finally, to see whether the fiber on the shell of mangosteen is compact, mangosteen with loose shell fiber is easy to deteriorate, so we should choose bamboo with compact fiber.

And then we look at the color of the shell. If the shell is dark red, it means that the mangosteen is not fully ripe. For this kind of mangosteen, it can be kept for 2-3 days before eating; if the shell is light purple or light black, it means that the maturity of the mountain bamboo is very high, and it is relatively fresh. We prefer this color of mangosteen; The mangosteen with dark purple or black shell represents that the bamboo has been stored for a long time and is not fresh, so it is not recommended to buy it.

③ Look at the sepals

The sepals of mangosteen grow on the 'butt' (bottom of the shell) of the mangosteen. It looks like a small flower. In fact, through this bunch of flowers, we can know the situation of mangosteen pulp. This small flower has several petals, and there are several pulp inside the fruit. For example, as shown in the figure below, if there are six sepals on the shell, the corresponding mangosteen should have six flesh. The more pulp there is in the head, the smaller the pulp. I believe everyone has had such experience. The bigger the pulp of mangosteen is, the bigger the core is, and the smaller the proportion of pulp composition is. Therefore, we should focus on selecting mangosteen with more sepals, so that the proportion of pulp will be more.

④ To see if there are moths

Because the sweetness of pulp and juice is very high, so it is favored by insects, so it is very important whether there are insects in mangosteen. We first carefully observe whether there are insect holes on the shell of mangosteen. If there is a gap in the shell, we should also pay attention to whether there are insect spots left by ants and other insects. Then lift the leaves of mangosteen to see if there are black insects. If the traces of insects are found, or the insects are found directly under the leaves, this kind of mangosteen is likely to carry the bacteria left by the insects, so it is better not to buy and eat them.

2、 Squeeze the shell

After observing the appearance of mangosteen, we can also identify the quality of mangosteen by pinching the fruit shell. Because the handle and hardness of mangosteen shell can directly reflect the development and freshness of mangosteen.

① Feel the shell

First of all, I picked up a mangosteen and touched its shell with my hands. The shell of high-quality mangosteen should be smooth and smooth and not stick to the hand. If the shell is found to be rough, it indicates that the maturity of the bamboo is too high or the storage time is too long. If the shell of mangosteen is found to feel sticky, it is likely that the fruit juice of the mangosteen is extravasated, so the mangosteen is not fresh.

② Squeeze the shell

The next step is to identify the focus of mangosteen - kneading the shell. Pick up a mangosteen and pinch it with your thumb. If the shell is very elastic and can easily press out a pit, and it can rebound quickly after pressing, it indicates that the maturity of mangosteen is just good and relatively fresh. If the shell of the mangosteen is very hard and the skin cannot be depressed by finger force, it means that the mangosteen has been stored for a long time and is too old and not fresh; or if a little hard pinching finds that the shell is directly crushed, then it means that the mangosteen has been stored for a long time and has been dried, so it is better not to buy and eat this kind of mangosteen.

3、 Weigh the weight

If two mangosteen, the above conditions are almost the same, we can also use both hands to pad the weight of the mangosteen, to compare the quality of mangosteen. First grab two bamboos of the same size, put them in the left and right hands, and gently throw them into the air, and carefully feel the weight of the two bamboos. Among the mangosteen with similar appearance and similar size, we should choose the one with greater weight. Because the weight of the mangosteen is more juicy, more fresh, it will taste sweet; the light weight of the bamboo may be dried, less juice, not as fresh as the former. In addition, if it is different in size but similar in weight, we should choose the smaller one. Because in the case of the same weight and different size, the smaller mangosteen will have more juice and higher maturity; and the larger ones are not rich in juice, and the maturity is not as good as the former.
