In recent years, the development of v2x technology is emerging, but the existing 4G communication technology can not fully meet the requirements of v2x, and it is difficult to achieve the "standard configuration" of automatic driving technology. The transformation from Internet connected vehicle to remote driving, vehicle formation and real unmanned automatic driving requires the support of network technology progress, and 5g can provide these capabilities. In the past decade, although there has been a lot of thunder about automatic driving and Internet of vehicles, the rain drops are very small, because there are still bottlenecks in basic technology. The commercial use of 5g network is bound to provide more suitable opportunities for the integration of automatic driving and Internet of vehicles.

Nowadays, the development of 5g technology has entered a critical period, and global communication operators are accelerating 5g technology verification and commercial use. According to GSA statistics, as of July 2018, 42 countries and regions around the world have planned or launched 5g band auction, and 67 operators plan to start commercial 5g from 2018 to 2020.
