Migingo, the world's most densely populated island, is located on Lake Victoria in Kenya, an African country. The area of this island is very small. It's only 1982 square meters. It's about three football fields. It's relatively small. Even though it is so small, the island is full of people.
In 2009, there were 131 residents living on the island after investigation. Although no one has investigated the actual population of the island again, nearly 1000 people can be basically guaranteed. Nearly 1000 people will live in three football fields. This population density is really suffocating!
Seen from a distance, the island of Migingo on Lake Victoria is like an iron tortoise, with houses built by residents all over the island. Although the area of the island is not large, but the facilities are still complete, bars, pharmacies, hair salons and so on.
So what do the residents of the island depend on to survive? They mainly depend on fishing. There is a kind of fish in the lake called Nile perch. This kind of fish has high economic value and is the target of fishermen's fishing and selling. But in recent years, with overfishing, there are fewer fish that fishermen can catch, and the life is not very good. This is the most crowded island in the world. It's not rich yet.
