There is a saying that Kaifeng should be the ancient capital of the eight dynasties, starting from the capital of emperor Zhuding in the Xia Dynasty, and then there are various big and small countries establishing their capitals here. The most brilliant one is the Northern Song Dynasty, when Kaifeng was the largest city in the world. And in 960 ad, it became the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty. From then on, it was either a country or a provincial capital, which lasted for at least a thousand years. But in 1954, the status of the provincial capital was replaced by Zhengzhou.
Zhengzhou was originally a small county under Kaifeng's jurisdiction. Its name was Zheng county. The rise here was similar to that of Kaifeng, because of traffic. Kaifeng's advantage is the Beijing Hangzhou canal and various waterways, while Zhengzhou's advantage is various railways. With two main railways, Kaifeng's advantage does not exist.
